Is there a link to help me pace myself better ?
I purposely select roads with plenty of hills , but I am having trouble pacing myself.
when it come to a road where the gradient is increasing, I can either spin up it, or select a lower gear and get similar pace but at a lower cadence. the first method saves my calves , but as the ride progresses, leg heaviness can set in.
if i go the spinning method, when it comes to hills further into the ride , my thighs will feel it and yet again , i wont have the power to really push in the last 5 miles to home.
im nailing 19 mile per hour average on circa 40 mile routes using both methods, but I know that a 20 mph average is reachable for me , the only pitfall is that Im having difficulty in looking after my legs so as I have the power to push hard at the end.
anywhere i can go to get tips on how better to pace myself ?
