To any of you out there I am after some help!
When I set up the Equalizer shock using the Scott Shock pump I am finding that when I check the pressures I have lost up to 10Bar in the negative chamber.....is this normal?
By this I mean I set the positive up to say 25Bar and then set the negative chamber up to 25 PSI. I then check the positive chanber and it is at about 24.5 so sweet but then I check the negative chamber and it is at 15-16 Bar in the space of about 2 minutes.
Scott has just warrantied my shock over this and it is happening again after absolutely no riding! I just got off the phone to them and they have no idea what is wrong or if it even is wrong? FFS!!! Its like dealing with monkeys.
Anyway all I am after is if this is normal as I dont want to launch and end up snapping myself or my frame when I discover there is sweet FA damping in the -ve chamber.
Any advice GREATLY appreciated here
Oh and I am using the shock pump correctly!

Is air escaping when you check the pressure? I only ask because normally -ve has a smaller volume, so filling the tiny space in the pump from the -ve has a larger effect than from the +ve0

I did wonder this, it is a good point.
Losing 10 Bar is extreme I would have thought though.
Kinda hoping someone else is experiencing something similar so I know either way!Scott Ransom 10

Thanks Nick,
I have set it up for the correct sag and how I like it to feel but my concern is that there could be a leak and that is going to hurt something down the line. This pump also has a lockout so that you dont lose air when you disconnect it or connect it (within reason of course) so it should read in the ballpark.
What I am trying to gauge is whether or not this is a quirk of the pump/shock or it is a problem that I need to address before hitting the trail.Scott Ransom 10

if you are wanting to settle the mind. set, check, re set, re check ........... and you will see a pattern. IE. the same lose each time ( this is only for your shock with your pump)."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

It is a bit of a pattern between 9- 10 Bar so I will set it up, take it for a hammering and then check it after a few clicks under the belt. If it is a problem while I ride then Scott can pay for any damage if not then I will be a happy man!
I get a bit cautious with this bike as after experiencing Scotts customer service turnaround times bike technology has moved forward by about 10 years.Scott Ransom 10

Major blow out I was writing in PSI but I meant Bar....
Its losing 10Bar not PSI the shock needs to run at 360PSI!!
Just changed this again...for F's sake I am an Engineer you think I would get my pressures right!!! :oops:Scott Ransom 10

so you are dropping the pressure by a constant amount each time you attach the pump.
Still no problem. does not matter if it is 10 bar or 10psi. the fact it is constant shows there is no issue."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

sometimes as you unscrew the pump form the shock some air does come out. the same happens with my fox's; if i dunt unscrew it quickly enough air is lost from the chamber.I said hit the brakes not the tree!!

Cheers clarkson, I know about the drops from pumps.
Turns out it was a a dodgy valve core, well actually two as I changed the first one out only to have the 2nd one do the same. Its all good now.Scott Ransom 10

surely it is just the air filling the pump up when you connect .it is only a small chamber on the equiliser shock, so the pump hose has increased the volume of the chamber when you connect it, hense the drop in pressure ,the shock is not losing pressure until you connect the pump its the same on all forks and shocks but because the equiliser is a small chamber at higher pressure it looks like there is a problem but there isnt
hope this helps

Cheers Jer,
You are right in that I am losing a consistant amount of air when connecting the pump but now with a new core it is consistantly 4-5 Bar not 10-11 that it was earlier.
Am happy to set and forget now. Its amazing on the Ransom just how much variation in ride feel a few pounds of air makes.Scott Ransom 10
