Popped in to Lidl this morning on my way to work and got a cycling jacket (7.99), foot pump (2.99) and panniers (14.99). As usual, all look good for the price.

My wife has just done the same and got jackets, track pump (4.99), lights (3.99) , gloves (1.99) and cycle computers (19.99) for the kids as well. She is well chuffed.

Got the tights and jersey, I got large (my usual size) but they are too big, tights are baggy - will be swapping for medium. Got the ttrack pump, seems reasonable for the price.

Got the computer, hope to have it all set up in the time the kettle takes to boil  They still have a few pairs of ladies SPD shoes in Bristol now down to £10. Didn't look at the sizes but a bargain none the less.

woohoo. got a track pump at last (missed them last time round) and also a cycling top.

£10 for both.....superb. The track pump looks and feels decent as well.

Went to Lidl this morning on the way to work I got the cycling top, pants, jacket and computer. I'm most impressed with the computer - considering the price and what it does.

    Try this

Some shops sell out quickly, some have stuff for weeks/months. Often clothing seems to run out first.

Looking out for Aldi now as they seem to have similarly focussed specials a couple of weeks or so after Lidl.

Someone more pikey than me got in to my loacl and bought all the jerseys.

Didn't want anything else but they would have been nice for commuting.

Last time the shoes were on offer, several pairs appeared on ebay within a few days with a marked up price, not that I considered doing the same when I saw the ladies shoes this morning
The computer is a bad idea as I've just spent the last 1/2 hour adding columns to the spreadsheet I use for my mileage to now include all the new data I can collect with the new computer.

What kind of rich upper/middle class people are you to live in London and not be local to a Lidl, they are EVERYWHERE.

There's five in cycling distance (give or take a quick detour) around me at any given time on my commute (Croydon, Thorton Heath, Streatham, Clapham and Peckham).

I don't think I can travel around London without seeing a Lidl... must be a South London thing - Apparantly its where Channel 4 is going to film the new series of Shameless....

Yeah - and I nearly got trampled in the stampede of little old ladies with their vicious shopping trolleys at 8am this morning...

  • Turns out there's one in West Ealing, not far at all.

Sadly I'll have to wait until next week... by which time it will probably all be gone...

But there's probably one near me in Essex...

My girlfriend lives in Epping works in Hammersmith. She had never been into a Lidl, before she met me...

It still unsettles me.... Everyone should shop in Lidl, at least once, if only to learn how the other side live... (I shop in Lidl every day, though its getting expensive these days.l..)

In between going out tonight and returning my bike has fallen down 30 feet according to the altimeter on the Lidl computer, yet it is still where I left it. More due to barometric pressure dropping at night I think.

    The computer baffles me.

I have a average heartrate of 124 when cycling and a maximum of 181 (isn't that bad?)

What amazes me is that when my Cats eye front light is on the speedo cuts out and when it flashes it goes all haywire.

Unfortunately, many flashing LED lights interfere with wireless computers.

A max of 181 isn't bad, it's just a peak. Sustaining it would be bad. The formula is 220 minus your age, or alternatively 0.8 of your age from 214. so if you are uner 39 you're fine :) (its an estimate not set in stone).

I think I need to sit down with the cycle computer and read ...sigh... the instructions.
