Not that I am suggesting that you can't live without one, but I found my original Polar Heart Rate Monitor in the garage this morning. I now have a shiny top of the range one and the old one is not worth selling on eBay. Anyone need one?
Will happily send it to anyone who will actually get some use out of it.
Cheers!

D'oh... too slow.
I've never really considered a heart rate monitor before. But i struggle to pace myself on my bike, how valuable do those that have a heart rate monitor find it?
At the mo, my bike *makes* me push all the time!http://www.KOWONO.com - Design-Led home furniture and accessories.0 -
Dunno, never used one if i find it useful and want to up-grade i'll pass it on or if i find it use-less then i'll pass it on also so keep your eyes peeledwinter beast: http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr34 ... uff016.jpg

I have a pretty high end model and find it fantastic to help with "motivation" Do all the nerdy things like upload data to my pc etc I love it..............0 -
All is not lost for those who missed out on this freebie. Lidl have their bike specials coming out again in a week or so (28th August) and they have not one but two heart rate monitor models coming out - one even has an altimeter... bargain price, though don't know if anyone has experience of them.

p.s. hope no toes stepped on by posting this...
p.p.s I don't work for Lidl0 -
Nice shot of the briefs!
Can't fault the coolmax tops!0 -
The Polar S150 heart rate monitor is a cheap cycling monitor, measuring speed and distance while cycling. Unfortunately it is officially no longer on sale, though brand new ones can still be found on eBay UK for about £50.0

When i started i didnt bother with a heart rate monitor, but after going for a long ride with a mate (who does alot of competition stuff) i took the plunge and bought one, now i dont go anywhere without, great for setting a pace, and trying to kill myself at the same time!0

Just keep in mind that HR:
- will over time tend to drift higher at the same power (or alternatively, if you try to keep HR the same, you will tend to go slower as the ride progresses)
- reacts fairly slowly to changes in ride intensity, so in that sense it can be misleading as a pacing tool
- is of little use in pacing very hard efforts
- is affected by factors other than how hard you are riding0 -
