Simple question - what's the best way to clean a sweaty bike helmet? Submerge in a bucket of soapy water?

I tend to rinse mine after a ride. Then again - I only ride a couple of times a week.

Riding with a bandana beneath it would soak up most of the sweat.
  • Completed the Devil Ride on Sunday... today I have a major outbreak of spots across my forehead... gutted and I was getting all that attention from the ladies top boot !!!

Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever.

Take it in the shower with you. When you shampoo your hair simply put it on and wiggle it around a bit. Rinse off.

After being told, many times, "get that smelly thing out of the house" I started the
shampoo thing to keep her happy.

that is a very good idea, but rinse it thoroughly otherwise, come the first shower or sweat...

I cant see that putting it in a washing machine is going to be great for it. I wouldnt wash my running shoes in a machine, much less something that meant to be protecting my head.

I wash the pads from my Giro Pnuemo after every ride and rince the helmet and straps under a warm tap. Seems to work.
I have only two things to say to that; Bo***cks

Sure would be nice if helmets came with a spare pair or two of pads.
