The rear mech on my 10 speed Shimano g/train has started rubbing the spokes when on the two lowest gears (39+30 x 27). Apart from staying out of those gears is it a case of adjusting on of the screws on the rear mech - H or L? i notice that gently pushing the mech away from the spokes solves the prolem so I presume something is slightly out of adjustment.

yes its those little screws. I can never remember which is which but you need to screw them in a little. Try L first and go say 1/2 turn if nothing happens put it back and turn the other one 1/2 turn.

make sure that you have not bent the mech hanger (or the mech its self).

think thats what i might have done. Having the same problem as the o/p I tried adjusting the high limit on the rear mech but it just stopped it going up a gear, ho-hum!

had to replace the rear mech on son's mtb after he put it into the wheel and ripped it off. Couldn't believe how much I had to bend the mech hanger to get the replacement to line up properly.
