...men, all the cycling medals have been won by women so far so hopefully we shall see lots more women in lycra!

On a serious note, the olympics are going to do wonders for our sport as more and more people will hopefully pick it up as a result of us doing (hopefully) well in all things bike.

As a matter of fact my friend has started riding as a result of watching the TdF rather than the Olympics but either way it gives me someone to play with as it were.

My friend recently bought an MTB and I convinced him to watch some of the mountain stages of the TDF and he was impressed to say the least. Unfortunately he's a poor student so can't afford a racer at the moment. But he is moving to Manchester, so I might force him to do some sessions at the velodrome with me.

I've just picked up the comic in a small supermarket. NEVER seen it on sale there before now - so already the interest is picking up ?

Well, maybe it will register a bit more in peoples heads now. Also, road racing is a bit easier for Joe Public to understand than track cycling so they can identify with people like Nicole and Emma a bit more than Wiggo, Hoy and co. Maybe if we had a bloke winning in the road race things would really pick up as fellas seem to get more attention when they win anyway and that, coupled with the fact that its on the road would be a formula for increased awareness/popularity.
