Cadel Evans and overshoes

Just watched the ITT and noticed that yet again Evans doesn't wear overshoes.

Anyone know why?

It just strikes me as a bit unprofessional - He's probably the type of guy who'd shave on the morning of a TT.
Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.

What advantage do overshoes really give you though?

Some say they don't help. You pick up extra weight and get hotter feet in return for tiny aerodynamic gains as shoes are reasonably smooth anyway.

I've seen Evans wearing see-through overshoes before, probably a sponsorship thing. In fact, the biggest non-TT use of overshoes is pros wearing shoes other than those their team is supposed to use by contract. How much difference they really make depends on the rest of the package. I can't help but laugh at a guy with overshoes who pedals with his knees 3 inches away from the top tube. There are very few chances your shoes straps are the weakest link of your aerodynamics chain.

The more un-professional thing to do would be to hide the shoes you are paid to wear. Especially if your sponsor made you a special Olympic model.
