Hi all and first of all thnaks for tkaing the time to read my post.
My question is this my girlfirend has a Dawes Discovery 2006 hybrid bike and was wondering whether some basic suspension forks would easily fit to her bike. (I was thinking of Rockshox Darts or Suntour). I have very little mech skills but am happy to try.
The reason is because she kind of (at my urging) wants to start coming off road with me but I don't think she yet wants to part with her biek and go and slurge on a proper MTB.
I am sure she will after a few gos out and so don't want to spend a fortune was hoping for a quick compromise and if she doesn't take to it its no problem changing back.

What size wheels do you have? If you fit an MTB fork to 700c wheels, the brake mounts (if V brakes) will be in the wrong place.0

Rock Shox i-Rides are probably your best bet - specifically designed for hybrid bikes.
But rather than spend the money on some crappy forks, why not take her for a dirty weekend?
No, not like that you mucky pup, I mean at one of the trails centres like Coed-y-Brenin or one of the 7 Stanes centres - rent her a proper bike for a day or two and I'm sure that she'll see the light...!0 -
Hi guys thanks for your responses,
The wheels on the bike are 26' (and go round and round) standard MTB geometry as far as I can tell. So I think that the mounts should fit.
With regards to going to a trail centre i was thinking of maybe going the Forrest of Dean cause they hire MTB and also have a short track to take her round as well as plenty of bridleway type things.
Living in Bristol it will mainly be local areas like Ashton Court and local trails with occaisonal Cwm Carn and Afan (although to be fair they kill me at the moment).
Thank you for giving me food for thought.
I think she would like to cruise around on her Dawes but the problem is she doesn't like to go on her own and as soon as i am on mine all I want to do is get it muddy.0
