Should be fine. Do they come with the cleats for your shoes?0
-
Yeah, they'll work. You would be a little more comfortable with proper road pedals - larger contact area etc - but lots of folks use MTB spd's for commuting and stuff.
The advantage is that generally spd type shoes with recessed cleats are easier to walk in if you get off your bike.I'm left handed, if that matters.0 -
Thanks for the advice
yes they do come with the cleats but i also have cleats already so bonus, cheerswinter beast: http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr34 ... uff016.jpg

You'll be needing more shoes then...I'm left handed, if that matters.0

am a bit of a clod so didn't want to spend a great deal incase i end up with brown pant syndrome and a severe case of broken face so will see if i can do them then if i can probably up-grade, thanks again for the advise, helpful as alwayswinter beast: http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr34 ... uff016.jpg

RO75s won't work with the pedals. Those shoes will only take 3 bolt road cleats, which aren't compatible with MTB pedals.0

Dammit  , probably best to leave the pedals then as i already have the shoes, can anyone suggest some cheap-ish double sided pedals that will be compatible with these shoes, thanks againwinter beast: http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr34 ... uff016.jpg

i have a funny feeling that the PD-515's there on ebay are also incompatible. the shoes are spd-sl format, the pedals need to be the same.
without actually knowing, or looking it up, i have a suspicion that double-sided spd-sl pedals might be hard to find.
however, you might be able to find a convertor plate that can allow you to fit the spd (2 bolt) cleat to the shoes you have bought. this link to your shoes suggests that there is an adapter available.[/url]0 -
Most greatful for every-one help, looks like being a cheap-skate is going to end up costing me more lol, ah well, thanks again though allwinter beast: http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr34 ... uff016.jpg

i had a quick look and the cleat adapter is about ten quid and then you can get the m520 double-sided medals you were looking at at the top (20 quid?).
given the original cost of the shoes that's probably still a saving!0 -
Only the fashion police will tell you not to use SPD pedals on a road bike. They're fine and the recessed shoeplates allow a civilised walking pattern. You might find the A520 single-sided SPD pedals slightly more comfortable (and less liable to cause dedicated roadmen apoplexy). I have them on 2 of my bikes.

Perfect, thanks alot, againwinter beast: http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr34 ... uff016.jpg

Why not just get some proper road pedals, given you have road shoes I see little point in getting mtb pedals and an adapter tbh, it'd just be a pointless compromise. I use SPD's on my commuter bike combined with mtb shoes but only for ease of walking. Personally I much prefer road pedals.

I use SPDs on all my own bikes and none of them is a MTB (road, tourer, commuter, fixie, hack.)
But if you already have road shoes there is little point in getting an adapter- the biggest plus point to SPDs is the recessed cleat on the shoe making it walkable; you won't get that on a road shoe with SPD cleat; indeed with the adapter the cleat will probably stick out even more than a normal road cleat would.
If you want double-sided in a road system, Speedplay are I believe the only system that offer this but they are a little more expensive than Look, SPD-SL, etc.0
