Hey guys been a while since i been online here and im still no better with my bike. After six months we still hate each other and i know even less "if thats possible" now than i did in november about my bike. I have a entry level aggressor brought from halfords ... flame it if you want but it gets me to work and back :? The question i now need answering is about my Rock Shox Dart 1 fork. I have seen this fork on e-bay for £15.00 lol  so i do not expect alot out of it but... it seems so damn stiff, i know nothing about preload etc so could anyone explain in simple "do this do that" language how i can make it a little more "Bouncier" because im fed up of breaking bones when i roll down a curb.

Thanx

If it actually does anything (big IF) then turn it towards the negative - mark until your happy with it, could be the spring rate though if you get no movement. Or its knackered.

How heavy are you? appox will do!

You should be ok on the standard spring then. Try taking all the preload off.

I found this with my old darts mate. I'm not dissimilar in weight to you and i found they were very reluctant to give that much travel. I think it might be overly stiff springs used in them, but i could be wrong.

i have a nagging feeling that some of the Darts were fitted with the incorrect sized bushes and this was causing the fork to be "stiff" and not getting full travel, (Sonic may have the correct info).

Not sure Nick, but I do know that they vary a lot. I think it is just one of those things with budget forks - these are made by Spinner very cheaply, and the tolerances aren't very good.

Take out the spring and move the fork by hand. Does it feel notchy, or overly stiff?

Yep, a Tora or MX pro will be better made, more adjustable and more controlled due to oil damping.

tora as a cheap option, reba SL as a more expensive one. If you get tora's try and stretch to a 318 version, much better damping.

luxor, have you been drinking man, that makes no sense at all!!!

If you mean, will it fit, then yes, you'll probably have to get the steerer cut to length though.

Nice choice by the way 8)
