Hi All,
I currently own a giant xtc840 and have owned it for 7-8 yrs now, it has not had alot of use and is still running on original tyres / disc pads etc( but im fed up with it). I fancy a change and am looking for a xc bike in the £500 range hopefully to do the odd xc event and just messing on the moors with the boys.
This is my short list.
Specialized hardrock pro disc 09, GT avalanche2 disc 09, scott aspect 45 09.
obviously i want the best i can get for the money, should i be looking at higher spec last year models or is there a must have bike in this range. (Ie) orange, gary fisher, merlin etc
Any advice appreciated as i want to buy this week if poss
Thanks paynts

The What Bike thread has many popular choices. (08 models for now)
Can you test them? At least go and see them to get sized up. Carrera Fury would be my on paper choice, as has the best frame anfd fork available for this money.0
