Not really, it is an inevitable consequence of building a population of over 6 billion people around a finite source of energy.

The next step is war, starvation and death...

Hey but at least houses are getting cheaper,, eer I mean less expensive.

Funny how the guvmint keeps telling us that inflation is only 3-4%. Seems quite a bit more to me.

It's an inevitable consequence of all those cheap TVs and a disposable lifestyle. With a couple of billion Chinese and Indians moving to a western life style I suggest you get used to it!

I suspect that things have just been atificially cheap for too long, and we got used to it. As noted above, better readjust to it :)

Plus the banks giving out waay too much credit hasn't helped, and this was all based on the housing bubble...

I just got back from States where I was paying 1.75GBP for a large Starbucks (Yeah Starbucks I know!!!) but here for the same size I pay almost 4!?!? WTF!!! Also I was going out for meals and paying around 30-40 GBP for a large meal for 4 but here I'm now paying around 70-80, well I'm not anymore as I refuse to eat out from now on!

Needless to say I stocked up on some cycling gear over there! Castelli, Assos, and a few American brands that have been great. Almost half the orice sometimes!

Thing is, why should we get used to it??? I thought the customer was always right? Shouldn't we boycott the stores and stop buying stuff??? Let's start a revolution!!!

unfortunately, I think that consumerism causes this, not solve it....

On the plus side, since the price hike at british gas, I am now paying the correct amount each month for the gas and elec that i use! I even just managed to get a £400 refund from them because the account was in credit so much!

Once a direct debit starts, noone at bG can hear you scream!

I think they employ someone to stand out side and shout out when you are coming, then they put different prices up. Four Pounds of the Realm for a cup of coffee  ? Do they wear masks and point a flintlock pistol at you and shout out "4 pounds or your life"?

I pay £1.50 for a double espresso, I cant see that even the gheyest girlie crapyfrapychino with chocolate powder sprinkled on top should cost another £2.50

Stop using Starbucks (and the like) and stop getting ripped off. For 4 pounds I would expect naked waitresses  .

Starbucks was the 1st thing I stopped using a while back. I try to use local independent coffee places now or just drink it at home!

Naked waitresses in a coffee house  Now if thats not a good business idea then I don't know what is!!!

don't forget the price of property being so high means that they have higher overheads.
  • I buy 250g of Kimbo Macinato Fresco for £2.50 I get (Im guessing actually never counted) minimum 20 cups and use a 2 cup stove/hob coffee maker to make one cup at a time. Inc gas and water I cant see I pay more than 20p per cup of damn good coffee. I bet that the big coffee shops pay no more than 3p per cup of coffee they sell.

Why do I give £1.50 of my hard earned to someone else every morning then? Im a sucker for pretty Eastern European waitresses, even if they arent naked

Not too long ago now one asked how my day was. I had a real moan about my sh1t day & said that I might start looking for a new job and she gave me some carrot cake, get that out of starbucks.

last year 3 packs of bread buns for a quid at tesco
now 2 packs for a quid - sneaky inflation
