ok people i need you help.
marzocchi mz supercomp
bought my bike second hand from a bike shop, fully serviced. now i'm not sure how the forks work. rebound isn't a problem. but preload is. turn the adjuster anticlockwise to min setting, no problem. i can push the forks right down no probs. now i turn the adjuster 15 clicks clockwise to max setting and push down, there doesn't seem to be much difference. although i would say a slight difference, not much. now my mate has a set of rockshox and when he adjust his preload the fork are solid.
is this just down to quality or is this faulty shocks?
i have taken it back to shop and he said it was normal and that there really is not much difference between min and max.
any help would be appreciated, thanks.

sounds about right.
it is a poor fork."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

its a starting point i suppose.
any suggestions to a cheap upgrade?0 -
RS Tora, but i would just use the current fork till the start of next season."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Preload adjusters may only alter sag by a few mm.0
-
you're right supersonic, just a few mm from min to max0

Sounds about normal then: the adjusters are there solely to set the sag and ride height, by a few mm. Some are wider ranging than others. If you can't get your desired sag, then need a new spring.
Adjusters on some RS forks are lock out adjusters!0
