Good evening gents,

A mate of mine is taking the semi-plunge and getting a flat barred road bike, and is lining up the new Marin Mill Valley. The LBS round here (and we've not got a lot of choice) seems keen to sell him a bike.... any bike tbf, and I'm not able to offer him much in the way of advice as to whether he's getting value for money. The bike isn't even on Marins' website yet, but I've tracked it down here so you can have a gander at the spec:

It's £880-ish over here. Any thoughts? Also, whats the benefit of the carbon rear end?

Cheers.
Rides a Cannondale Synapse 105.

I think Marin bikes are overpriced in the UK. I wanted a marin point reyes (not totally disimilar urban bike) but was put off by the £900 price tag. Same bike was $900 USD in the states.
Finally I got in January the 07 model at 25% discount (£675) from JE James and am delighted with it.

I personally think it's overpriced too (people could say the same about my Cannondale tbf), but it's a nice looking beast.

Anyone able to offer anything the carbon rear end?
