my pump doesnt fit

i have just got a trek bike but my pump doesnt fit the valve. do i need a special pump or does the bit at the end of my vavles come off? thanks

    so the valve you have now is a Presta valve and your pump is a schreader compatible one.

    so see if the pump is convertible. buy a new pump? buy new tubes? or see if you can find an adaptor.
