After returning to Edinburgh from John O'Groats on Monday having completed End to End, my trusty steed was nicked only hours after i got in the door. Was pretty furious to say the least but will at least be covered by insurance and replaced by wheelies. I get £545 towards a replacement and discount on any difference above that. Original was a full alu frame with tiagra groupset but all possibilities have carbon forks so will have 2 fork out a bit more 4 a decent drivetrain. Have narrowed it down to the following:

Don't think I'll really be needing a triple but the caddy looks nice and also haven't seen much of Genesis before, are their frames decent? cos they're nicely kitted out.

I've heard good things about the Genesis range but I don't have any personal experience.

Personally I would choose the Allez - probably the best frame out of them. I just don't like Cannondales.

I have had 2 bikes replaced this way through Wheelies - one just a few weeks ago - and both times they have been really badly set up - loose spokes and the gears were off. It's definitely worth giving it a good checking over before riding - and possibly even having it serviced somewhere locally - and then trying to bill your insurance company.

Did I see you in the Evening News the other day too?
I'm left handed, if that matters.

Yep, if I was in a Disco kit at the Land's End sign, that was me, Thurs evening I think. Since it made a good story, just attempted to raise the profile of the theft in a vain hope of getting it back. Never know, if the polis do their job I could end up with 2 bikes!

Fraid I plumped for the Caddy but waiting 2 see if they can get in stock as its just about switchover season to '09 models. Otherwise probs go 4 the genesis, think the giant and Spez have slightly poorer quality wheels than the Shim wheelsets on the Caddy and Aether?
