New Bike

Hi, would like some advice on which road bike my gf should buy with a budget of £600(preferbaly less). She is doing a 200 mile bike ride for charity in a few days time so will need it as soon as. We both have mountain bikes but know little about road bikes.

The Boardman Comp seems to be good value at £599?... Any suggestions would be appreciated?

    Giant SCR, nice bike for someone new to road bikes with a fairly comfortable upright riding position.
    Are you sure she wants to do 200 miles on a new road bike without getting accustomed to it for a few weeks first ?
    How about a road specific hybrid with flat bars and narrow tyres, not such a leap from your mountain bikes !!

    Yeh your right... it`s abit mad riding 200 miles on a completly different type of bike. However half of the riders are novices, it`s not a race and she wants to carry on road riding afterwards. So i think a road bike would be better than buying a hybrid and then having to fork out again a few months down the line.

    I`ll take a look at the giant though thx
