Bike Computers with HRM & Cadence - recommendations

I'm thinking of upgrading my basic Cateye wireless to one with Heart Rate Monitor and Cadence. GPS is not important to me and I'm more interested in checking display as I go along rather than analysis afterwards. That could of course always change!

My lbs recommended the Polar cr200cad but I'd really appreciate any recommendations / comments you may have on this topic eg new Cateye V3 or some of the Garmin models.

    If money is not an issue - Go Garmin.

    Ive had three polar CS200cad and found all three gave up the ghost after less than 3000 miles (although one I threw trhough the back windscreen of my car so technicallyt two gave up the ghost!). One sensor invevitably wasnt working, and they all seem to have the sensitivity of a venitian Sonnet, and then to send it and get it back from Polar took ages.

    However when this topic has come up a number of times before Ivew found myself the outlyer as most seem really happy with them

    I liked the look of the V3, but went for a Garmin for 200GBP on EBAY: I also dont use the GPS but find the charts of cadence, HR, altitude etc over time are great fun, whereas the interface of the Polar was always clunky. I also find it works quite well to map guided hikes & running which the others dont.
    Fitter....healthier....more productive.....

    Also consider the Suunto T-series monitors. The latest ones come with a "BikePod" cadence/speed sensor. Simple, work well, the Training Effect feature is actually quite effective, and its wrist mountable (with optional bike mount) so you can use it running too. If you're into outdoor sports, the T6c comes with an altimeter (Suunto really made their name with their altimeters) and is robustly built.
