Campag 10 speed Cassette Chain jumps on 11 tooth sprocket

Hi
I have 2 * 10 speed campagnolo Titanium cassettes (11 -23) with one set of Chorus and one set of Athena 10 speed shifters. I am almost through upgrading to use these cassettes but have a problem in that the new chain skips when on the 11 tooth ring on both wheels fitted with these cassettes. In desperation I have tried one of these on my friends Cannondale Synapse fitted with 105 shifters and we have the same problem. The other 9 cogs seem fine. When I manually feed the chain round the cogs the 11 tooth sprocket does not sit cleanly on the chain the others all do. There are no obvious signs of wear to any of the sprockets. The pitch of the chain looks too short for this 11 tooth ring. Any advise suggestions would be gratefully received.
Mick

You aren't using the wrong lockring? I've had this with 11t Shimano sprockets and have found the cause to be using a 12t lockring.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.
  • Hi
I think you are right I have swapped over both 11 tooth rings to no avail but just swapped the lockring and it seems OK. Looks like my ebay 10 speed with lockring has come with the wrong lockring!!
Raining far too much to try now but does look a much better fit on the chain.
    Thanks again
    Mick :D
  • Shoudda gone to a bike shop and got the right stuff fitted

  • Sadly the over £120 for this cassette PLUS the lockring is outside my budget

  • Then you should have gone for Centaur.

a lot cheaper as you would not have wasted time fitting the wrong stuff.

  • one lives and learns, I have learnt two things today, I need another 10 speed lockring and some people are helpful and others are not.
  • Could you use a Marchisio lock ring instead?
They can be bought from Parkers or http://clemenzo.com/index.php/index.php?lang=en
