Hello everybody
Can you please recommend me a replacement fork for my Claud Butler Cape Wrath D27 (07)?
The stock fork, Suntour XCR-LO, gave up a ghost and I'm looking for some decent 100mm travel fork, under 200 quid.
Thank you

Just about to replace the same fork on my son's Kraken with the Reba (just waiting for the delivery van to arrive).
Is there a problem with these forks(the XCR's) or is all that can be expected of a cheap fork?______________________________________________

They're just a cheap fork, not in the same league as something like the REBAs. If nothing else the manufacturer expects the REBAs to be serviced and will have designed them with this in mind. Damping etc. is way better as well. It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.
I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result0 -
Thank you guys. I do a bit of cross-country on South Downs. Will the REBAas be ok for it?0

Merlin have the XC500 (2007 model) with £180 off at £179.95?

are there any other forks around the same price from other manufacturers, that should also be considered?0
-
Not really! The Reba RRP is 330, and it is good for that money, so at 200 is a absolute steal.0

Mine (or rathe my son's) reba SL arrived from merlin today (great service), weighs about 1 kg less.
He's just rode it in the field opposite and was quite impressed, I can set the sag for his weight now - he never got the full travel before on account of him being so light.
Will see how it goes at llandegla on Saturday with him - Mind, I expect to get my ass whipped again!______________________________________________

Marzocchi MX Pro's if you don't want to spend as much, got mine for £110 and they're quality.Currently riding - Lapierre Zesty 314, as yet without any bling
New toy - Diamondback Mojito, SS rigid 29er

oh no they won't..........toras aren't nearly as good.
All subjective though....if thats what you like fair enough, I'll stick with the MarzocchisCurrently riding - Lapierre Zesty 314, as yet without any bling

Tora 318 air is much better. I picked mine up new from Wiggle for 88 quid!0

that's a steal, the 318 has the same damping as the rebas, and an huge amount of steel means they are stiffer and stronger than the marzocchis0

I think they had the wrong price on them! They were unboxed, so OE probably, and limited stocks, but I snapped it up straight away! Alu steerer too, this puupy is under 4.5lbs, and with 130mm of travel, very impressesd!0

Just got back with my son from Llandegla for his first run with the reba's, and as expected he left me trailing, a combinition of less weight and better control. He said it was an easier climb over the rocks and the not(north) shore.
I have set the air pressure so that he is getting almost full travel and set the negative air presure the same (he barely got the old fork moving more than 50%).
Really really pleased and £200 well spent.______________________________________________
