I got some SMPs today for the commuter and they're a b!tc# to fit. What are the best levers for awkard tyres?

I have never found ANY decent tyre levers for road tyres.
The plastic ones snap and the metal dig into the wheel or innertube too much. :?0 -
Used some metal ones with my SMs and TBH didn't need the levers till the last few inches.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

park tools do a good one but i can't find a link so maybe that should read "park tools did a good one"...0

Interesting. looks like a smaller version of those machine things they use in Kwik fit on car tyres0

it does indeed!
Just had a lookie at a few uk sites and no one sells or stocks them. Ahh well.0 -
Soma Fabrications, without doubt.
A steel core with an all over plastic skin, rather than a plastic-steel-plastic sandwich.
They are perfectly shaped, gentle on rims and beading, but offer irresistibly strong leverage.
Highly recommended.Nothing compares to the simple pleasure of a bike ride.

I'm a fan of these - http://www.tenerife-training.net/Teneri ... yre-lever/
I've broken a lot of tyre levers (Marathon Plus 700x25c...) but never these. Good shape too.Bike lover and part-time cyclist.0 -

Has anyone tried the yellow michelin levers? - they are an inch wide and almost flat and very thin -because of this they can get under the tightest tyre and because they are wide are very strong - far better than parker or usual fare0

I've got one, which I use for wire bead MTB tyres (I've now got one folding tyre and it doesn't even need a tyre lever) and it's good. However, for the 700c tyres on my commuter, I use two of the Park Tool plastic levers - the Speed Lever doesn't seem to work so well for me on tighter tyres. I've only experience of 28mm Armadillos and Gatorskins but, with careful positioning of the beads before using the levers, I've found the plastic levers to be perfectly adequate...

ditto the crank brothers speed lever.
Makes getting tyres on and off really easy. Plus no risk of damaging the tyre or rim.0 -
I was reading this yesterday, and thinking about how much I loved my Crank Brothers speed lever.
It fell out of my bag on the way home yesterday evening and I lost it0
