Is really annoying!
Why are they holding it down here?!
It's like the South has been invaded!
One of the reasons Cardiff pays for the event is so it can be held elsewhere! :x
You're not big, you're not clever, it's not even a real language, someone talked at me today while I was cycling around in my GB jersey and said- "ooh, Great Britain, un beicio! (pronounced bike-io)"
Thats not a language, thats english with "io" on the end!
Just go home and stop clogging up Cardiff town centre!!!! :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil:
Now that rants over, I'm going to go shoot arrows at a Welsh flag while putting Wales in room 101 and then get arrested by the Chief of North Wales police...

For your own personal safety I imagine...
Speaking as a Welsh person in exile, I think it'd be nice to hold it down here in the deserts of Wessex once in a while, partially for the culture and partially to confuse the local chavs.
Can't even get S4C down here - what is the world coming to? :?

Because they alternate between the north and south. Merthyr's got it in 2010 I think, so calm down.
Anyway, we're in Wales after all..............0 -
Nolf how's it not a real language???There is never redemption, any fool can regret yesterday...

Nolf, I take it your not Welsh, what are you doing in Cardif then? Oh I just remembered most of south Wales doesn't speak Welsh does it, and last time I checked Cardiff was a city not a town. And if you do happen to call yourself a Welshman, shouldn't you be embracing a bit of the Welsh culture, not that I'm a big fan of the eisteddfod myself, we've got it up here in Bala next year and it'll probably be me ranting next year0

Nolf , i could argue with people like you all day but what's the point, , i like many others are proud to be welsh and in the eyes of south wales people extremely privileged to speak the language , take a good look at yourself, more people in wales now want to speak welsh , soon you might be in a minority, i have many friends in s wales , who tell me you must speak the language to have a better chance of a job etc, the eisteddfod should be embraced , , i am welsh not british, if you feel different up to you ,0

Um not convinced thats true, theres not much of a need for it down here.
To be fair in a similar way I was told that to get into Cardiff Uni it was necessary to do well in Welsh at GCSE level. Well I got an F, and an offer. I think people just say this to encourage the learning of the language.
I meant the rant half in jest and intended to only vaguely annoy people (like the eisteddfod...)
To be fair I'm not Welsh, I came here because my dad was offered a good job, but I've been given a good childhood by Wales and appreciate it, not to mention some great cycling!
And surely Campogne (the locals call it the town centre to be fair), people from other parts of the UK should be welcomed to Cardiff, as they should feel welcome anywhere in the UK?"I hold it true, what'er befall;
I feel it, when I sorrow most;
'Tis better to have loved and lost;
Than never to have loved at all."

I don't know about the National Eisteddfod, but the International Eisteddfod, every year at Llangollen, is well worth a visit as it has many excellent folk groups from all over the World.
It was even nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2004, it is so much considered to contribute to the understanding between different cultures.0
