My nice Carbon fibre number came to a rather unforunate end :x (Hopefully the insurance company are going to pay out)

I am just trying to remember when the sales start as I don't want to spend money now and find my new bike is reduced by 30% in a couple of weeks.

From memory the sales start usually at the end of August but can any one confirm?

  • I think they have already started for some places especially chain reactions.

But i think the benchmark to look at are Evans.

The only drawback i've seen is the frame sizes are usually the smaller ones.

Best search engine i've found is the google product search they have a fair amount of bike shops on there now.

Thanks for that tip, will give it a try

Frame size could be a problem - I am 5ft 9 (ie Mr Average)
  • with 2009 stuff being 10% or more dearer than tis year's (for the same stuff) you might find the sales are not as dramatic as the usually are.

Seeing it is an insurance job why stress just get the bike and enjoy it.

Aren't sales all year round now?

The DFS one certainly seems to be! Didn't Allied Carpets (are they still going??) start the idea of the perpetual sale? When I was a kid they seemed to be advertising one all year round!

I'd consider it extreme bad luck to buy something full price in MFI; they seem to have sales lasting 3 months then a brief 2 week period at rrp before the next sale.

Bike sales are starting about now, but as others have said there's a lot of talk about 2009 price rises so 2008 stock may not be as heavily or as quickly discounted as you'd like.

August is about the time the distributors try to start clearing 2008 stock getting ready for 2009 bikes arriving September / October. However, many popular models and sizes may be sold-out already, so if you like a particular model, may be worth seeing if any still exist in the supply chain before you start hanging-out for a bargain.
