recommendations for wheels...

I have got a pair of Campag Ventos on my bike which are nearing the end of their useful life. I've not too many complaints other than getting most brands of tyre on and off (well documented by others on this forum...) - and a corroded freehub after 10 months wasn't ideal.
So - I spend most of my time commuting long distance (c.30 miles a day - sometimes with panniers) with the odd sportive and bit of fast touring thrown in. I have a budget of £200-300 and was wondering what people's suggestions were for replacements/upgrades. Is there a lighter, stronger wheel in this bracket capable of handling my needs (i.e. "panniers and potholes") - or would I be better off buying a set of commuting wheels with a nimbler set wrapped in cotton wool for the sportives?
Advice gratefully received...

DT RR1.1 or 1.2 rims, or Mavic Open Pros handbuilt on DT hubs would be my shout here.

Another shout for the Open Pro's on DT hubs, cracking set of wheels for the price. If it's not a Yeti, it's not worth riding!0

Wow, 3 out of 3 for Open Pros, that's a concensus, then...thanks for your suggestions.
