    The old "I didn't see him" defence. I 've had a similar experience (albeit nowhere near as tragic), and had the same response from the driver. Beggers belief, not sure a stiffer punishment is the answer, but more (OR SOME!) focus on cyclist-awareness when learning to drive is the way forward IMO.
    Pictures are better than words because some words are big and hard to understand.

    Less fine than the idiot cyclist that knocked a girl over who died of a head injury....

    Cyclist's fault again then..........not the fact that the driver couldn't be arsed to look properly.

    Time to kick up a fuss then !!!

    it does appear to be a contradiction...

    how does he know what his riding position was if he didn't see him?
