Hi guys

First thanks for all the help so far. Have gone through these forums with a fine-tooth comb for advice over the past week! :D

Now, have made a few decisions on purchases and just want a small amounf of advice.

1) I've decided on getting a Garmin Edge 205. Am I right in thinking that this combined with a paper map should be fine for navigating well-trodden country off-road routes? (Its the training aspects I really want, the navigation is just a bonus).

2) The cheapest new one I can find is on Amazon at £100. Is that the best offer people know of? (was hard reading about PCWorld's £50 offer!)

3) I commute by bike to work and my water-proof backpack creases my work clothes too much as its too small and other bags I have aren't very practical for biking. Where's the best (and by that I mean cheapest) place to get back packs? I got my last one from Decathlon but its a bit far out of my way.

Thanks in advance

Should be fine, as long as its a OS map and you can map read!

Tell me about it!!! I ended up going for the 705, as I couldnt get the 305/205 cheap anywhere.

Have you tried rolling your clothes up? You'll find they don't crease as much and take up less space.

Generally. Put it this way, everytime I've got lost on the Yorkshire Dales I've been able to read a map to get be back to where I should be....... eventually

Hmmmmm..... interesting. I shall certainly try! Still think I need a bigger rucksack as the current rucksack can't fit clothes and food in without a good shove! :x
