Blown up 2 Tubes!

I've just blown up 2 tubes with a track pump!
The second one was a slime one, very messy!
Ended up using my mini pump in the end.
I'm thinking that a track pump may not be ideal for a MTB because it was nowhere near being fully inflated when it went.
It frightens the crap out you!
I'm just thinking that I'll have to use the mini all the time and save the track pump for my roadie...
What's the general concensus

LOL,
Its quite scary when you blow up a tyre, my friend (very cleverly) was using a pressure pump that his dad uses to pump up his motor bikes with on his little 20 inch bmx wheel,
guess what... it poped,
Scary, it was the last thing we were expecting..._________________________________________________________________________________________

i use a track pump on all 3 of our mtb's and my neighbours bike too. Never had any problems, but i've never pumped the off roads more than 40psi. My road tryes for it i pumped to 80ish and again, never had any problems.0

Generally track pumps rank up there with padded short in the "why didn't I buy one of these before?" stakes.
If you are pumping the tyres up to a normal pressure (30-50psi) there is no way you should be blowing up tubes.
suggests there is something up with either the tubes or the rim.0 -
exactly, I've pumped up mtb tyres to 75ish for riding on roads and road bike ones to 110-120 and never had any issues.0

This one went at about 30 PSI.
The first one was over 50, so I can understand why that may have been on the limit
Never had problems before on my old bike or on my roadie which I run at 100PSI minimum
The only thing I can think of was that I was having trouble getting the bead on the tyre to seat on the rim, so maybe I'd pinched the tube.
I'll have to get some more tubes before I use a track pumpon this bike again...Richard

I was on a ride no to long ago... when my rear wheel started making an odd rubbing noise, and as I looked down to see what was up, the tyre burst and scared the crap out of me lol! I had recently changed my tyres over, i must of had a pinch somewhere around the wheel.
Defiantely checks for pinches... thats what i've learnt0 -
surely its just a coincidence?
usually putting about 55psi in mine with a track pump and they've been fine.0
