I suppose technically this should be in Campaign or BikeRadar Office, where the original post came from, but I thought it should be put where it would be most likely read. All opinions welcome.

Hi,

It'd be great if there was a TT forum in the road section. I currently have to use weirdo forums for TTing, which is a bit of a weirdo world anyway.

How about it? I can see it coming just before Sportive and Road Rides, and might get more people TTing.

Hmm, maybe. It would probably get more traffic than the women's and track sections, but does it deserve its own category outside of 'race' or 'training' or 'road beginners'? All those three span time trialling.

Unless we get a deluge of requests, we'll probably leave it for now but won't rule it out further down the line.

I totally agree with vermooten here. For example, we have Campaign and Soapbox - which to me (and I'm sure others) seem to cover the same thing. Race seems to be a section nobody knows how to use properly - it's more a discussion site for Pro road racing. Sportives and Road Rides, well no offence meant, but it's nothing more than an organizer? And isn't Commuting road cycling? It has no sub-categories, so why is it a section on it's own? Arguably Family and kids as well. Special Interests is also misused, again because it's vague. A lot of the posts in it should be in Road Gear and Know How, but what the users are looking for is a section called "Vintage and Restoration" for example.
Personally I think "Race" should be sub-sectioned, to include Road Race, Time Trial, Women's Race and MultiSport. It's a huge area which is not at all well addressed in the forum. CycloCross doesn't even get a mention, either in Road or Mtb.
While I'm ranting, look at the MTB forum - Cross Country, Downhill, Freeride, Jumping, Health, Fitness and Training, Street, Trials, Racing, Routes, Women. They must be laughing up their sleeves.

  • Hi there.

To be frank - there isn't the volume of traffic to justify splitting it up.

If you've got a forum section with nothing but tumbleweed, then people stop checking for posts there and it dies off. You need a sort of critical mass to keep things going.

There are plenty of guys and gals in the Training section that have lots of experience of TT and road racing and even a little cx. The advantage of sharing locations is that your posts reach a wider audience.

Historically the MTB guys have a lot of sections because we merged with a forum from a MTB magazine!

    Cheers, Andy

ps Veloriders is _the_ place for road riding, timetriallngforum.co.uk also does what it says on the tin.
