My wheels appear to have the rotors riveted to the hubs rather than attached with allen bolts. How do I detach them and attach new rotors without having to buy new wheels?
I have pain!

    What bike/wheels?
and rotors are normally attached with torx screws not allen ones.

    It'll be Shimano centrelock.

You need a cassette tool to undo the rotor.

You will either have to use Shimano's own centrelock rotors, or get a centerlock rotor adaptor to run 6 bolt discs.

    ^ Thats a torx bolt ^

If it is a torx you'll need a t25 torx wrench

If you do get a cassette tool go for the Shimano one, I found my (older) Park Tool one wouldn't fit over the axle properly on my rear wheel  so I had to buy a second cassette tool :D .
It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

    I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
    Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result
