I want to replace an ahead type stem with another ahead stem. The steerer dimensions etc are all the same. While I can find articles on adjusting ahead stems, I can't find any on replacing them.. It was all so easy in the good old days with the Cinelli 1A! Any advice will be gratefully accepted.

It is an easy job - five minutes.

Take the old one off and install the new one without tightening the bolts and follow the instructions on adjusting. You have to get the compression right on the bearings before clamping the stem on to the stearer tube.

Oh and do it with the wheels on the ground. If you have the bike up on a bike stand there's a good chance the fork will fall out.
