Travelling from London to Leer, Germany

I'm attending a friend's wedding in Leer in northwest Germany. I'm considering leaving 4 or 5 days before the wedding and cycling part (but not all) of the way.

I'd travel light on the way out, and probably fly back. (Friends would take luggage out there for me, and bring my bike back).

I've pretty much discounted the option of cycling from Calais for the simple reason that the distance is too far and so would take too long.

One option that has about the right amount of cycling would be to get a ferry to The Hague, and then cycle the 200 miles or so through northern Holland to Leer just over the German border.

Any thoughts on the route (will it be a good ride, or a bit boring)? Any advice/comments from seasoned cycle tourists?
