What brake pads for Sirrus Elite?

Noticed the brake pads on my Specialized Sirrus Elite (circa 2007) are in dire need of replacing.
Just about to place an order but:
a) I haven't a clue what sort of pads the V-Brakes take.
b) Completely daunted by the range of different brands / materials / inserts available.
Can anyone tell this numpty what sort of pads I should be buying, and better still recommend a good pad for a commuter.
