Anyone watching the Olympic Road Race?
What are the viewing options in the UK? In the US, it's only online and then the next day, there's three separate 30 minute highlight shows.
It looks like it's going to be an amazing course:

Awesome!
I'm sure we'll get some kind of middle-of-the-night/crack-of-dawn coverage here. The main problem will be the BBC not bothering to cover events where "Team GB" doesn't have much hope - that may well include the men's RR, so maybe Eurosport will be worth checking out.0 -
Starts at 4.30 am on sat morning. Do u think Eurosport will be showing it?0

They showed a good deal of the race four years ago when Bettini won it. As it's early in the morning, it'll be the same again.0 -

That's much better coverage than in the US. We have very few options and I'm pretty sure the online feed is only live, not for later viewing.
The course is going to be amazing (especially if they can eliminate some of the smog).0 -
Saw some of the US riders arriving at Beijing Airport wearing smog masks on the news tonight. Guess the air con in the airport is pumping out bad air.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

Track events start on the 15th I think0 -
I'm going to be away this weekend, so I think I'm going to have to rely on recording Eurosport. Unless anyone knows how I can record BBC red button stuff on a Virgin V+ box? I take it it isn't live on BBC HD as well?0

Stupid query alert about the Olympic RR.
I take it riders ride their bike of choice (usually their pro team bike)? Or does a national team have a bike sponsor that all riders ride with?
If a rider doesn't really get on with the bike provided by the sponsor that they have to ride all year for their pro team, could they feasibly choose any bike they preferred for this race?
Does each rider take along their own mechanic or do they use a mechanic appointed by their national team?0 -

I would like to know this too! Any Ideas anybody?0 -
The course looks awsome.
But where are we going to find a course like that in London?
[Or are we going to go for a flat course so that it all comes down to a sprint for our Cav.]Rich0 -
Isn't the London course going to climb up to Highgate and descend through Hampstead to Finchley Road and round Regents Park? I remember seeing some plan a coupe of years ago even before the TdF London start was anounced.0

Messers Hammerite & Bendewey....
Yes they will ride their team bikes, ie Valverde will ride his Pinerello, Bettini/Specialized,
etc, this makes it much easier to ride for their Pro Teams and not their Countries, NOT!!
Just the World Champs, but without the Sponsors Logo's everywhere ( just call me
really cynical)......

http://cyclingfans.com is bound to have a bunch of alternet live streams for both sides of the pond.
It's going to be exciting!
