Cutting more thread into steerer tube

I have a pair of Gios steel forks (for a restoration project) with a threaded steerer tube, but the threads don’t go down the steerer far enough, so need about another inch of thread cutting down the tube. All my local bike shops only have tools for chasing threads, not cutting them.

Does anyone have recommendations where to go (or the tools maybe?) to do this job - either in the West Midlands on in London?

Cheers,

A good framebuilder should have the tool - try Lee Cooper in Coventry - they used to be on 02476 304723 but I see their website has gone down.

Ok, I know it's a restoration, and the following suggestion is probably not practical, but - the forks are obviously not original to the frame, being much larger. With as much as an inch of unthreaded steerer available, have you considered going A-headset? Just a thought to expand your options.
