where to weld frame SW17

I have a steel frame Trek 700 hybrid. It's 12 years old, but the cross bar to stem tube weld has broken. Trek is replacing the frame, but otherwise the bike is fine and I might as well weld the frame for £20-30 than throw it out.
Any thoughts close to London SW17?

I haven't got any ideas myself, but I'd imagine the folks at either Moose Cycles in Colliers Wood or De Ver Cycles in Streatham could probably point you in the direction of somewhere round there.

If you want a "pro bike" level job done, then talk to Roberts in Croydon.

If you just want it fixed cheaply try any local metal fabricator in the yellow pages.
  • dont trek want the frame back for warranty purposes?

thanks for replies. Roberts, which seems a pretty brilliant outfit, doesn't want to do the job for liability reasons. But I think a gash, metal fabricator should be fine so long as he doesn't blow a hole in the tubes. The bike's worth very little and it would do for my wife's occasional shopping trips.

Trek did want the frame back, but as it has excellent Schwalbe Marathon tyres, pannier, mudguards etc they did not want to take everything off. So it's mine for parts or repair.

Witcomb. Sadly they've got involved with a chancer called Tony Malone and trebled their prices last year. I don't know if they'd do a small job like this as it might harm their supposed boutique image.
