That is a formidable spanish team.
Could be an all spanish podium.
Russian team very solid too.
I haven't been able to find any odds for the road race or the time trial. Someone post them if you find them.0 -
Betfair has two clear favourites:
Paolo Bettini 4/1
Alejandro Valverde 4.5/1
Oscar Freire 13/1
Davide Rebellin 16/1
Samuel Sanchez 12/1
Stefan Schumacher 13.5/1
Andy Schleck 29/1
Frank Schleck 23/1
Kurt-Asle Arvesen 33/1
Fabian Cancellara 33/1Rich0 -
So Gusev's blood values clearly pass IOC muster...___________________

Does anyone know what time and day the road race is?
In fact, does anyone know the times of any/all the cycling events?
And.. who is showing them - given that I only have Freeview?
Thanks.0 -
Should be on BBC & Eurosport I believe.
Full schedule here:

It's on Eurosport from 7:15 on Saturday, so around 3 hours coverage total for the Mens RR.
At least it's in HD.Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0 -

Which likely winner is best supported by pro tour team buddies?Rich0

As one of the endurance events, the schedule of the road race may change depending on smog conditions.
Just wondering if the Italians allowed Valverde the win in San Sebastian last weekend ahead of the Olympics? :twisted:0 -
Surprised Zabel isn't in the German team. Yeah OK he doesn't win a lot these days, but did you see how well he was climbing in the Tour?!
But I guess it's possible he ruled himself out. Not sure I'd want to ride for 7 hours in those conditions.0 -

Just by glancing, there seem to be a fair number of Columbia and CSC riders. Although having just seen the profile I'm not sure who out of those teams riders could win it (Schlecks???? :? ). http://www.cyclingnews.com/road/2008/olympics08/?id=stages/road_race
I think the Italian team will work together well though.0 -

More likely he's not welcome because of his tearful EPO confession and association with the tainted repuation of Ulrich etc.
