V Brakes

Yes, some people still have them including my Mrs. She had a hell of a stack yesterday (nothing broken thank God) and as a result when the back wheel turns for about two or three inches of the turn, the right hand pad rubs on the rim. There's no obvious signs that the wheel has buckled, appears to be running straight.
I know this may sound like a really novice question but does anyone know of an online guide to setting up v brakes and dealing with such problems? I appreciate that without being next to the bike it is unlikely someone on here can solve the particular problem and, in any event, I want to learn for myself.
She still has her free service at Evans to use if it all goes Pete Tong!!!!
Cheers

park tools will have something on this. You'll probably (assuming nothing is bent) just need to adjust the spring tension screws.
As for v-brakes being archaic, I have them on precisely half of my bikes! I've got some on my pompino and on my ssxc bike!0 -
Cheers, I'll have a go at it!0

Sounds like your wheel is slightly buckled if it is only rubbing on part of the rim, therefore it may need retruing;

If it were rubbing continuously on one side of the rim then this would suggest that the tensioning screws need adjustment, see the 3rd picture from the end here;
