hello i have a Carrera Kraken 05 bike i haven't used it for a while and the other day i road it it feels like the forks have gone, it feels quite hard to push down, they do bounce back up but it feels like the springs have got grit on then and when the forks extend it leaves a trail of oil on the bars, i have been searching how to maintain them with no luck.
the nuts on the bottom of the forks are round and there's no hex key grip, what i need to know is can they be opened so they can be cleaned or looked at? please help a biginner :(

Some oils will rot the internal seals in forks.

Teflon based lubes will be ok though, as will genuine fork oil. You only need a few drops of oil, cycle the forks through their travel & wipe off the excess oil on the stanchions.
