Hi all
i am currently building a bike up from scratch, i have managed everything else so far but i am totally stumped on how to fit the front derailliuer  . The convetional one is secured by a metal band around the seat post upright, but the one i have bought looks like it is secured by the crank set and there a half moon shape that fits around the seat post.
Can someone please help as to how i fix it on :D , many thanks :D

it sounds like you have bought an E type mech.

they are held in place by the bb cup.

might be an idea to get another one. as you will also need to use a E type bb or space the cups if external bearing correctly.

  • Hi Nick
i have tried following the instructions provided but they are as much use as an ashtray on a back of a motorcycle. The one bit of useful info is that it is a Shimano FD-C201-E. My old bike is a Baracuda Curacao ( not a cocktail) :D , the bike is about 6 years old. Can you suggest a front deralliuer that is eay to fit and is compatible with a 3 ring chain set

the problem is the E at the end.

    try a Deore M510

just make sure you get the right band size.
