Who's do you want to win the Premier league ?

It should be Chelsea. But then again they should have been champions for the last five years, and European Champions for at least three years out of the last four - but they haven't! It just goes to show that buying up any "name" player that comes along won't always pay, but you could never tell Kenyon and Abramovich that. What an 'orrible, unsavoury lot they are....the Blue Square League is too good for 'em.
(and surprise ,surprise - their fans here where I work are already proclaiming themselves champions)To disagree with three-fourths of the British public is one of the first requisites of sanity - Oscar Wilde0 -

We are an easy target as the only foreign owned team in the premier league  but, at the end of the season you can call us Champions.
Only foreign owned team :?: How do you make that out :?:
It was meant as sarcasm (rolling eyes)
And Billy boy just how many of the players that we bought over the last few seasons were "names" i remember the club being derided for buying Drogba, Essien was hardly a household name and £8M for Deco is a bargain as is Ballack on a free. I see you're not slagging off The evil red empire for buying Rooney, Ferdinand, Carrick , Hargreaves etc. People are always quick to have a go at any team that has success and it seems like it is our turn at the moment.
As for the fans proclaiming themselves as champions that is known as optimism, like Spurs and Villa fans who are looking to get inton the top four.
I hope you have ambitions for whoever you support.0 -
Gareth Barry is cup tied only up till feb when the proper stages of the champions league start, which is why his price has dropped and he might be on merseyside as our attacking left winger by the end of august. And with everton not buying in a single player villa have every right to see that 5th spot as their own with or without barry. The dissenter is every human being at those moments of his life when he resigns
momentarily from the herd and thinks for himself.0 -
no team has a 'right' to any spot-it has to be earned-or bought in the case of the 'big three' and the redshite'dont forget lads, one evertonian is worth twenty kopites'0

I've been wandering. If Gareth Barry plays in the forthcoming UEFA cup qualifiers will that make him ineligible to play for Liverpool (when he finally moves there) in the Champions' league?
Yes he will be cup tied
Not necessarily.
According to UEFA, players representing their clubs in the champions league and UEFA cup at this stage are are cup tied from the competition in which they have already competed until the end of the group stages. After the group stages they are again eligible for any European competition for a new club. (nb that said, players cannot play against a team which they've played for in the same competition).
If Liverpool fall into the UEFA cup after the Champions League group stages Barry would not be cup tied but he would not be able to play against his old team assuming their continued involvement.
if Liverpool fall into the group stages of the UEFA cup (ie Liege beat them next week) Barry would be cup tied until the round of 16 in February..
Even so, as Barry has so far played in a qualifying round (and not the full competition), Liverpool could request that the ban be waived so allowing Barry to play for two teams in the UEFA cup. However, this would require Villa's permission which, as they have all but qualified for the group stages, they would be virtually certain not to give.
Confusing isn't it!

I want Arsenal to win, because I'm an Arsenal fan.
I have been an Arsenal fan for a very long time indeed, which means that I spent a lot of my life (18 years) and emotional effort hoping that Terry Neill and Don Howe would be able to get folk like Willie Young and Peter Marinello to win us the league. When you have suffered like that, it puts current glories into perspective.
When I was at school in the London area, I knew 2 Man U fans and exactly no Chelsea fans at all. Now they are everywhere. Who did they all used to support?0 -
Doesn't really matter - Only the big 4 can possibly win - worse still it now looks like only Man United or Chelski.I AM THE STIG - HONEST0

Sorry to say this but football is s h i t0

Welcome aboard Pavlyuchenko and Corluka. Liverpool appear to have bought some margarine on a dodgy Italian Passport :P .
City are being taken over by some investment group who I understand (and desperately hope to be true) are putting together a bid for Berbatosser.0 -
Berbatov to City would be easier to stomach, especially with the alleged £30m price tag.0

I wouldnt be too gutted if we accepted a £25m bid from City for him. Especially if we refuse a £28m bid from ManUre.
The below is from Skys Transfer Centre
13.25 Sky sources have been informed that Manchester City have tabled a bid reported to be in excess of £30million for Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov, who has been a long-term transfer target of Manchester United.

To be perfectly honest, Spurs are no angels when it comes to dodgy dealings. Palace alone must be seething after the way they were robbed of, first Routledge and now John Bostock. (admittedly, Routledge turned out to be nothing more than average at best)
Every Premiership club is up to it, not just United. And getting £30million+ for a player who doesn't want to play for you anymore can't be bad can it? Rot in the reserves - who was Levy trying to kid?Start Weight: 128 kilos (20.2 st) (April 17th 2009)
Current Weight:119 kilos (18.7 st) (June 18th 2009)
Target Weight: 92 kilos (14.5 st) (sometime mid-2010, hopefully sooner)0 -
