Decided to upgrade front wheel!

I'm upgrading the front wheel, which is currently a 'WTB LaserDisc Trail - Double Wall' rim, with 'Shimano Deore Disc M525' hub set up.

I was originally set on'Halo Freedom' rims with 'Hope Pro II QR' hubs, but I have also been considering 'Spank Subrosa' and 'DT Swiss 5.1' rims. I'm stickng with the 'Hope' hubs, but I know that Merlin have some good deals with the 'DT Swiss 5.1' rims, so now I'm leaning a little more that way.

I've been looking at 'Chain Reaction' and 'Merlin' with regards to the wheel build. Any suggestions regarding rim choice, and any other good wheel builders, would be appreciated.

depends what you want them for if its just xc go for dt 4.2 on the pro 3 hubs thats what i roll on or if its a bit more hard core dt 5.1 on pro 2 or 3 hubs dont buy mavic cross max as there too dear and aint that good compared to some wheels for less money

Just come back from holiday, so not seen a pc for a week. Thanks for the help, guys.

I try to ride a bit of everything, so I reckon the '5.1' rims will be more suitable.

Oh, Supersonic...once again with the common sense. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it, if I'm to be truthful.

That's what the other half of me is thinking. I promised myself I wouldn't upgrade until something actually needs replacing, so I know exactly what you're getting at.

Lol. I have a Deore disc hub on a WTB Speed Disc rim - not a bad wheel! Hub needs looking after, but is only 60g more than a Hope Pro2, and probably stronger lol.

Keep on truckin' until that hub dies, tough wheel!
