27" Tyres (630) fatter tyre on an old bike

I am looking for some 27" tyres:

27 x 1 3/8 - I think these are 35c

I have Michelin 630 32c Speed they are good but old and I would get them agian if i could.

I have clearance for 40c I think.

i just gave away a pair of 1+1/4s hardcase for £15.

most bike shops have the relevant tyres. i tried spa cycles for 27x1. much narrower carcass.

In the ten years I was in the trade 27 X 1 1/4 & 27 x 1 were the only two 27" sizes I saw.

i saw 27 X 1 1/8 at herne hill.

to be fair though, the thickness of 27" tyres seems to vary, regardless of the stated measurements. i've had thick and thin 1/4s.

Hi I'm looking to replace the tyres on my old Raleigh 27 x 1 1/4 rims with something a little less heavy I was thinking of getting a pair of Conti ultra sport 32-630 but I noticed that they also do a thinner 28-630 can anyone tell me if the later with fit my rims, thanks.
