Avid brakes! 185mm to 180mm rotors. HELP!

Can you remove the male inside cone on avid juicy 3's 185mm brakes to make them suitable for a 180mm rotor, without any ill effects. It moves the brake in by about 2.5mm. Why are the cones on there? must be for some alignment reason? any help would be much appreciated.
Do illegal single track, or if you cant, make one!!!

Scott scale 50 hardtail.
Really want a full susser.

    NO. get a 180mm adaptor or a 185mm disc.
