Koolstop Salmon

I posted a little while ago asking about brake blocks, I have since looked up the Kool Stop Salmon pads which everybody seemed to like so much, however I saw that they were for extreme conditions.
Does this drastically reduce their durability? are they still better for dry weather than standard Ultegra pads? do they wear down the rims more drastically?
Sorry if the questions seem a little pointless but I want to maximise my braking ability! I do the Devil ride sportive next weekend and brakes are important to me...
Also on the point of sportives, I have never done one before, I have only got cheap pro team kit, no non branded clothing, will I look like a bit of an idiot in full CSC gear when I am aiming for an 8hr finish??!...

the koolstops provide excellent stopping power in any conditions - I have them on all my bikes as they are simply great.
They do wear quicker than the OE pads - but probably save the rims .
In fact they definatly save the rims as they don't pick up the same little slivers of metal as the OE ones do.
As for your kit - i doubt anyone will notice that much to be honest - you wear what you want mate. there will be plenty of CSC and other team shirts around - don't worry about it!0 -
Thanks gkerr4, that is good to know, I will order up a set.
and in a field of 500, I am sure you are right, thanks for the reassurance. I would love to find a team kit sponsored by EPO, that would be fun!...the day I stop dreaming of upgrades is the day die!

Ditto all said about the pads and in reality I don't think they wear that fast.
Wear what you want, just don't wear a king of the mountains jersey, those people just look class A nobbers.0 -
Unless your name is Bernard Kohl...
OK feel good about the both clothing and Kool Stops.
Still searching for an EPO team kit...the day I stop dreaming of upgrades is the day die!
