I am thinking of getting new pedals and can't decide between Shimano R540 SPD-SL or Look Keo Classic.
Anyone got/tried either of these or would anyone recommend one over the other?
Any help much appreciated.

i have got the Shimano R540 SPD-SL i found the hard to get use to but i was using mtb pedals and shoes before i got them so it might be me.
they seem fine now iv got use to them now.
i have never tryed Look pedals but my ridein buddy has them he likes them also his look ones seem to be a tighter fit for his shoes not as much play when clipped in.
but that could just be my set up.0 -
I used to use shimano (ultegra) which were fine. But I switched to Look Keo Carbon Tis ($$ I know) but you can get deals on the Carbons. I personally prefer the Looks mainly because they are lighter. ... but the two systems are very similar and both work well.0

i wood go for speedplayconstantly reavalueating the situation and altering the perceived parameters accordingly0

just swapped from SPD's to SPD-SL's. Got some 105 5610's.
Bit harder to click out of than the SPD's, but easier to click into.
Float feels more on the 105 than it did on the 520's.0 -

That is one of the reasons for wanting the SL's (easier to click into than SPDs).
How much harder is clicking out? If I set the tension a bit lower will it be easier?
Apologies for the silly questions.0 -

Just taking a bit more getting used to than the 520's. More of a "whole foot movement" with the SL's.
Could get out of the spd's very easy since i was used to them.
Got em set on lowest tension at the moment as well.0 -
i use keo easy and their ok, bit slippy on the plate though.0

I'm thinking of changing my double sided SPDs to 105 SL. Being single sided are they not harder to clip into, don't you have to flip the pedal? Are they much better than SPDs (forget the easier to walk issue as i very rarely tour)?May the wind always be at your rear!0 -
I've got both SL's and Keo's. I find the SL's easier to clip into (just) and the cleats are definatley easier to walk in (less slippy), so for the beginner I'd say go with the SL's.
As has been said both quite similar but the carbon keo's have it for 'bling factor' on my best bike.0 -
Thanks for all the advice.
Got a pair of 105 SPD-SL off eBay.
