Wheel advice new purchase

Hi,
I'm after some wheel advice. I'm going to replace my old wheels (Mavic Crosslands) and was hoping to hear from other riders and get their views.
I do mostly XC on_this and that's pretty much it. Hardest I've gone is Coed D Brenin so the wheels need to be quite strong but I'd rather something quite light.
Would I be better off getting a hand built wheel made by someone like Merlin or getting a better disc specific off the peg number?
Many thanks for all the advice
Cheers

719 on xt/pro II with dt db spokes from merlin, or 819 if you want ust for future experiments.
721 or 823 if you want ust for future experimenting, these are wider but beyond what you need really.0 -
Hi, thanks for the reply. I'll try the 819's as I'm sure sooner or later I'll try UST.
I was looking at the Hope hubs, what's the 135mm \ 150mm they refer to?
Cheers

150mm is for DH, you will want 135mm.0

If you have not used Hope Hubs before they are a bit Marmite. In that you will either love or hate the noise coming from the rear hub0
