Hey all
I just started out in downhill, can ride for ages on normal trails but at bigger tracks eg Fort Bill i can do about 4 runs before i cant feel my hands or wrists.

Is there anything i can do to stop this? realised its dangerous to ride when you can't feel your hands

cheers

I think a powerball would help, but to be honest, I'm not sure what has the greatest effect out of
    grips,
your grip (deathgrip, or softly softly)
    suspension set up
    brake/gear lever set up.

Whilst in France, nearly everyone else in our group (on proper DH bikes) was having problems with arm pump, and aching hands, but to my surprise, on my 5/6" travel bike, I was fine.
I have no explanation, apart from the fact I bought a powerball after hurting my wrist, and got addicted to it.

you need to ride more and strengthen your arms, a powerball is good too.

techy tough terrain, to really work the arms so they get stronger.
