I need to get some new wheels for a XC bike i'm building. I've currently got ex729's on my full susser but think they might be a bit heavy for a xc hardtail. Any suggestions of decent XC wheels. Budget around £200.BTW I weight 15 and half stone so they gotta b tough.

regards
dave

Merlin will do you a set of handbuilt Mavic 719 rims on XT spokes for around £130. Could have Hope Pro II hubs but that'll cost more than £200.

Could look at Nuke Proof hubs and DMR if want cartridge bearing hubs for a bit cheaper.

if you spend 1200 you could get reynolds topo c's, but get mavic 719 on xt with db spokes and live with the servicing.

The new superstar ones - 195 squids for a hub with decent reviews and the classic Mavic XC717 rim......

I suppose the risk comes from them being a new addition to a new company
