I've just recived my small uni jersey in the post, I ordered small after carefully reading the sizing chart

I've not worn assos before, the jersey is much more snug (tight?) than I expected, more like a skin suit than usual jerseys(my arms and shoulders are bulkier than the usual cyclists shape)

Is this normal for Assos? it may feel OK once i am on the bike, but if not i waon't be able to return it "unused

I have agonised over Assos sizing ... it's the price tugging at you making sure you don't lash out on a duffer.

One thing I have noticed is that what often feels tight standing in the front room is often very comfortable in the riding position.

The only time I err'ed on the larger size and brought an XL I later regretted it and brought the L at a later date ... the XL will go on eBay soon ...

I have an XL Equipe. The size chart told me to buy L. L would get nowhere near. Bought the XL Uno and that was even smaller again!

XL Brazil shirt arrived today. Based on the Equipe. Yet still slightly tighter.

This is exactly the way Assos should be sized imo. Having said that, it still has to be comfortable, and if it isn't, there's not much point in having that particular size.

I did buy a bigger size than normal when I bought a SS Assos jersey this year - I'm XL everything else Assos (tops and bottoms), but Parkers recommnded going one size bigger on the jersey as they did come up a bit small. It fits perfect.
Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos

I was told that they're designed for 'racing position'

Generally I always try the tight stuff on for any given brand as they vary wildly. Any one that isn't a racing snake needs a couple of dozen XXXs for Castelli. Whereas people like Nalini go for random numbers???

I have a 38 chest and have two Assos jerseys (Uno and Six Days) in L and they fit fine, I wouldn't want any smaller.

Assos do come in racing snake sizes dont they.
Yours prob sounds a size too small to be honest. Have you got a vest underneath it even.

Hey Cougie, if your post on sizing was aimed at me (maybe not?) i'd say that by the looks of the Assos ads in the cycling press that the fit was about spot on. Just makes me keep up the sit-ups!!

    Sorry Cougie - got ya!!
  • Thanks for all the help

I will return the jersey and get next size up

It's clear that the anaeroxic Assos models don't do any rock climbing or upper body sports hence don't need room for bulky shoulders etc

(I'll ignore the small matter of the beer gut)

Just read a government publication that tells us that the Swiss are the skinniest nation in Europe.

And the UK - pretty much the heaviest. :-(
